It applies to women because a lot of women do not go to college who want to. A good bit of women are stay at home mom's and take care of their families. I think that if we are capable of getting an education, we should be able to. There are a lot of people who think that it is a woman's duty to take care of the famly and let the man be the provider, but some women like being independent. Women can gain so much independence through an education. Everything we learn from college will give us more independence. The author states that it is our responsibity to get an eduacation. Like she said, "It is not our right; it is our claim." I think that we, as women, should get an education if we desire one. It is also appying to men because many men go to college and get an eduation as well. Like women, they deserve to get an education if they desire one and work hard enough. No one can take your education from you.
I think what she means is that there are two parts. The teacher teaches the students that are receiving an education. I think that the teacher gives the student knowledge to gain an education. And for that gift, I think that it is making the student rich because the teacher is giving them knowledge. By students being in a class, I think they agree to gain the knowledge that the teacher i trying to give them. The teacher agrees to teach the student and to give them the knowledge that they need in order to become more intellectual. I think that the teacher has the larger, ethical goal because the teacher has to be moral in some sense while teaching. The teacher has to teach whether the student wants to learn or not. But I think that both the student and the teacher both have to have some form of moral and ethical concerns.
I understand what you a saying but in today's society mostly women are the ones atteding college. This just shows how much evolving women have done. They realize that they can be both a wife and a career woman.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. Many women don't go to college because they just stay at home and take care of the children and house. Just because women do that, doesn't mean all women should be stereo-typed as stay-at-home moms. Anyone, man or woman, should be able to go to college and get the education that they desire, because in today's society, many women are becoming the providers of their families whether they're single mothers or not.
ReplyDeleteI never thought of it as a teacher having the more ethical goal because they have to give knowledge whether a student wants to take it or not, but it's a very good point. That is what they agree to do when taking that job and a student the same when going to class. They should want to learn and gain more knowledge because it truly is a gift.
I never thought knowledge was a gift given to students by their teacher. That's neat! Even if the student may want to learn or not, teacher should continue to teach.
